Toughened Glass Tumblers for High-Volume Bars

GLASS TUMBLER 310ML DURALEX PICARDIE

In a high-volume bar or cafe, glassware must withstand rapid temperature fluctuations and constant handling.

Thermal Shock Resistance: We stock tempered or toughened glassware, such as our Duralex tumbler ranges, which are very durable and resistant to thermal shock. They handle temperature changes better than regular glass, making them highly suitable for both hot and cold drinks.

Safety Profile: If these glasses do break, instead of breaking into dangerous, sharp shards, they will safely shatter into lots of smaller pieces. Our Crown Headmaster pot glasses are also manufactured from this toughened glass.

For outdoor dining, poolside service, or venues with strict non-glass regulations, polycarbonate is the standard.

The VIVA Advantage: We stock premium polycarbonate drinkware such as our VIVA tumblers and pot glasses.

Aesthetic Durability: These are exceptionally good quality, actually look like real glass, and ‘age’ significantly better over time than some of the other polycarbonate drinkware on the market.

Where can I buy commercial glassware in Melbourne?

Unicorn Kitchenware supplies commercial glassware and barware from our Richmond showroom at 200 Victoria Street, serving bars, cafes, restaurants and function venues across Melbourne. Our glassware range covers beer, wine, champagne, cocktail and hot drink glasses, jugs and carafes, alongside Zanzi bar equipment and VIVA polycarbonate drinkware. Stocked lines are available for same-day click and collect on orders placed before 11am.

Most cocktail lists run on three shapes doing three jobs. A rocks glass for spirit-forward drinks served over ice, a highball for long drinks with a higher proportion of mixer, and a stemmed glass for anything served up, whether that is a coupe, a martini or a Nick and Nora. Add specialty shapes only for drinks that genuinely stay on the menu, because unusual glassware ties up money and shelf space and tends to break before it earns its keep.

We stock cocktail glassware from Bormioli Rocco, Pasabahce, Libbey and Crown alongside bar equipment from Zanzi, TruPour and Tablekraft.

Cloudiness is usually one of two things. Mineral deposits from hard water sit on the surface and can be removed with a descaler or by adjusting rinse aid and water treatment. Etching is permanent damage to the glass itself, caused by wash cycles running too hot, over-dosing of detergent, or simple long-term wear, and once a glass is etched it needs replacing. Toughened glassware such as Duralex holds up better through repeated commercial wash cycles than standard glass.
There is no single figure that works for every venue. It depends on your covers, how fast each shape turns over, your wash and return time, and how much breakage buffer you want. As a general rule, venues stock enough of each glass shape to cover what is in service, what is in the wash, and what is sitting clean on the shelf, plus a bit extra for breakage and busy nights. Bars with heavy cocktail or wine trade need more in their high-rotation shapes and fewer in the specialty ones.
Both. Glassware is available by the carton for venues fitting out or restocking a full service, and in smaller quantities when you are topping up after breakages. Venues reordering the same lines regularly can apply for a trade account, which is what trade pricing applies to.
